Multiple TTY Session Cheat Sheet

TERMINAL SESSION
Open the session <Ctrl><Alt><F1> through <Ctrl><Alt><F6>
Log in Enter user name & password
Use the session Use the terminal normally
Log out of the session exit
Close the session <Ctrl><Alt><F7>
GUI SESSION
Open the session <Ctrl><Alt><F1> through <Ctrl><Alt><F6>
Log in Enter user name & password
Start the GUI startx — :1 through startx — :6
Use the GUI Use the GUI normally
Log out of the GUI Use the GUI menu to log out
Log out of the session exit
Close the session <Ctrl><Alt><F7>
MANAGE SESSIONS
View sessions w
Go to new session <Ctrl><Alt><F1> through <Ctrl><Alt><F6>
Go to default session <Ctrl><Alt><F7>


Obligatory Happy Ending

And they all lived happily ever after. The end.
